Nile University (NU) Admission Application 2020
Nile University (NU) is a world-class research institution of learning committed to excellence in education, research, entrepreneurship and innovation. NU is an Ahleya, non-governmental and non-profit university and the first of its kind in Egypt. The university offers both undergraduate and graduate programs for various fields. It was officially inaugurated in January 2007 with the aim of creating a tech-based knowledge generation platform to help streamline Egyptian youth with the global innovation and science community. Its business and technology-based programs and research centers are designed to address critical areas of vital importance to the economic growth and prosperity the people of Egypt and the region and to engage in cutting-edge applied research.
In its admission, Nile University follows the general rules and guidelines set by the Office of Admission – Ministry of Higher Education.

American High School Diploma
Nile University considers admission of a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 (on a scale of 4.0). Students must have passed a minimum of 8 courses of one credit each, including the qualifying subjects for the chosen major, all of which should have been passed in the 12th grade. Students may have completed some of the subjects from the 11th or 10th grade with a maximum of 2 subjects.
Students must submit SAT I scores with minimum of 800 (Subjected to change as per the Ministry of Higher Education and the SCU instructions) and SAT II for engineering and ITCS majors with a minimum of 900 (Subjected to change as per the Ministry of Higher Education and the SCU instructions).
Students who have scored high on Advanced Placement (AP) courses may be granted transfer credits.
For Engineering and ITCS majors, English, math, physics and chemistry are required, which are covered in grades 10, 11 or 12.
IGCSE/GCSE/GCE
For admission at Nile University the following eligibility criteria applies:
Applicants have to submit certificates of 8 subjects at the O-Level with a minimum grade of “C” (these may only be in the extended and not in the core system). Subjects must be completed in the four years prior to university enrollment. Applicants who have completed advanced level subjects may be granted transfer credits.
For Engineering and ITCS majors, 4 O-Level science courses (math, physics, chemistry and english), and 1 AS-Level or A-Level Math course are required.
International Baccalaureate
Applicant should have completed the Baccalaureate diploma degree and satisfied its general requirements. Transfer credit may be granted.
For Engineering and ITCS majors, math, physics and any qualifying subject at the advanced level are required.
German Abitur
Nile University accepts admission of applicants with a minimum average of 4.0. Transfer credits may be granted.
For Engineering and ITCS majors, English, math, physics and chemistry are required.
N.B: For other certificates of other countries, Nile University follows the general rules set by the Ministry of Higher Education.
Acceptance Test
All applying students are required to show proof of English proficiency by achieving the level indicated in one of three testing alternatives below:
- a score of 61 or above in the IBT (http://www.ets.org/portal/site/ets/menuitem), or
- a score of 6 or above in the IELTS (http://www.britishcouncil.org/egypt-exams-english-exams-ielts.htm), or
- a score of 500 or above in the ITP (Institutional testing program TOEFL administered by AMIDEAST) and achieve a minimum score of 70 in NU writing exam. (Not available this semester).
IG Requirements
- Business school: Minimum of 8 O-Level subjects including English and Math with minimum score C.
- Biotechnology school: Minimum of 8 O-Level subjects including English, Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum score C.
- Engineering and Computer Science school: Minimum of 8 O-Level subjects including English, Math, Physics and Chemistry with minimum score C and one subject only AS or AL (Should be Math) with minimum score D.
American Diploma Requirements
- Business School: 8 subjects from GPA certificate including English and Math, along with SAT 1 with minimum score of 800.
- Biotechnology school: 8 subjects from GPA certificate including English, Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology along with SAT 1 with minimum score of 800
- Engineering and Computer Science school: 8 subjects from GPA certificate including English, Math, Physics and Chemistry, along with SAT 1 with minimum score of 800 and SAT 2 with minimum score of 900.
Thanawya Amma Certificate
- Business School: The school accepts the 3 general secondary “Thanwya Amma” tracks: Literary “Adabi”, Science“Olum” and Science/Mathematics “Reyada”.
- Biotechnology: The school accepts students who took the Scientific “Olum” general secondary track.
- Engineering: The school accepts students who took the Mathematics “Reyada” secondary track.
- Computer Science: The school accepts the 2 general secondary tracks: Science “Olum” and Mathematics“Reyada”.
